  Lot 96

1981 MG Metro 6R4 Evocation
An unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a meticulously built evocation

Registration - FNB 606C

Chassis No. - SAXXBPNB1AD393422

M.O.T. - April 2024

Odometer - N/A

The MG Metro 6R4 is a Group B rally icon, and to buy a genuine example today would set you back well into six figures, if you could track one down for sale. ‘FNB 606C’ has the looks of the real thing, without the real price tag and without being a pastiche. This homage to the 6R4 was lovingly created in the mid 2000s using a donor Metro. With a full roll cage and full Metro 6R4 bodykit of fibreglass wings, spoilers, side skirts, tailgate and front and rear valances and strengthened shell, and in its period blue and white Computervision livery, complete with Rob Arthur/Tony Pond ‘crew’ names and white, flat-faced rally-style wheels, it really looks the business. And, with a 2.5-litre V6 Renault engine with Garrett T3 Essex turbocharger behind the front seats, it sounds the business as well.

Handling hasn’t been forgotten either. The evocation boasts custom subframes front and rear, Sierra Cosworth adjustable track control arms, top-adjustable dampers with ride-height adjusters, and Sierra anti-roll bar with Nylatron bushes. The braking system is equally authentic and includes Black Diamond vented and cross-drilled front brake discs and independent front and rear brake circuits. The cabin is equipped with Cobra seats with Sparco harnesses, OMP steering wheel and detachable boss, hydraulic handbrake, Carbonite carbon-fibre pedal covers and all the appropriate gauges, and 15 re-settable circuit breakers. We could go on, but space won’t permit! The vendor describes ‘FNB 606C’ as ‘good’ throughout. It has an MOT to 16 April 2024 plus MOT history with no advisories going back to 2008.

In summary:

  • A unique opportunity to acquire a faithful evocation to the iconic rally car
  • Lovingly and meticulously built
  • A well-documented creation, with impeccable attention to detail throughout
