‘K266 EJB’ is a fine example of the revered Subaru Impreza WRX in its original and purest form. Hailing from 1993 and bearing the model code GC8A48D, ‘K266 EJB’ was originally supplied to the Japanese domestic market. ‘K266 EJB’ was imported to the UK in 1999. With just four previous UK keepers ‘K266 EJB’ has been in the stewardship of its current and fifth keeper since 2010. The current keeper has covered around 12,000 miles in that time bring the total to a sensible 111,000. Like many sub models of the Impreza range the GC8A48D WRX was produced in relatively small numbers. A total of just 2,433 were thought to have been produced in ‘K266 EJB’s’ Mica Black livery, for example. With a valid MOT until May 2025 and the vendor rating its condition as excellent, ‘K266 EJB’ will represent a thrilling ownership proposition for the JDM connoisseurs.
Back in 1993 Subaru very effectively transformed their workaday mid-sized Impreza saloon into the stuff of a rally driver’s dreams. As seen with ‘K266 EJB’, externally that was achieved by the addition of a deep front spoiler with integrated football sized driving lamps, side skirts and a chunky boot top spoiler. A variety of different wheels have been used over the years, but ‘K266 EJB’ boasts a set of 17-inch Cruize items strikingly finished in anodised gold. A matching set of Falken tyres in 215/40 configuration are fitted.
The surprisingly practical saloon interior of ‘K266 EJB’ is predominantly standard Impreza WRX fare. The front rally inspired sports seats are finished in a tweedy grey fabric with accent panels of bright and jazzy red. The rear bench is identically trimmed and finished. Some holes are noted on the outside bolsters of the driver’s seat. A nice, three spoke Nardi Torino steering wheel is present as is a contemporary USB equipped head unit. Overall, the condition is impressive for a car of this age.
‘K266 EJB’ is thought to feature its original EJ20GDW2HD iteration of the 2-litre boxer engine. Noted as a desirable closed deck version, the EJ20 unit distributes its power to all four wheels via the five speed TY752 manual transmission. Undoubtably ‘K266 EJB’ will prove an enticing proposition for those that know their Imprezas.
In summary:
· Rarely seen early WRX Impreza in fine overall condition
· Boasting a great level of originality with just a few non-standard additions
· Offered from long-term enthusiast ownership
